Then my friend bought it too and we wanted to play together via TCP/IP game, but it always says "Cannot connect to server" even we have same versions, I tried portforwarding but it didn't help either..is there a way to play it cia TCP/IP via My brother and I would like to play Diablo 2 over the Internet NOT using Battle.net. We haven't tried this yet but I thought I'd seek some potential advice. I know we can connect via IP address so that's no problem. However, we both connect via cable modems and have firewalls set up. Direct TCP/IP connection with ports open works quite a bit better.

I understand that preventing hackers, abusers, and bots is a very important and difficult problem that is especially hard to deal with when dealing with a codebase developed almost 20 years ago, but I have some questions and suggestions about the current process. I believe Single Player characters can be used in TCP/IP (been a long time since I've done that).
